Of course to own one of Van Gogh’s original paintings would be something to behold. To know that the artist himself had raised his brush to that piece of canvas hanging – perhaps in your living room, above the dining table – right there in front of you would be a special feeling.

But unless you have a spare $10 million lying around this is always going to be a rather insurmountable barrier.

The best alternative to a real Van Gogh!

Real brush strokes, real paint

This is where a hand-painted reproduction comes in. This style of reproduction is far beyond a computer print, for it contains the exact brush strokes used, which of course is one of the main factors that created the unique and iconic style of Van Gogh.
Not only that, it uses oil paint on canvas, to represent his colors, and also gives the painting a truer physical form, the layers of oil lifting from the canvas and also leaving the intoxicating and immersive smell of oil paint.

And too, they come in the real size of the original Van Gogh, and even a larger size that is perfect for more open and large spaces.

The originals, slowly fading

The one problem you have with the $10 million original Van Gogh version, other than the extreme cost, is that the quality of the oil in the late 1800s was poor.

Van Gogh liked the tube paint as he could easily take it out to the countryside with him, but unfortunately the paint was new to the market and was found later that over time loses its vibrancy and fades.

So a lot of Van Gogh’s colours now are a little softer than originally intended, especially in the reds and oranges.

Real colors

The good thing about a reproduction is that the quality of oil paint now is of a much higher standard and, with years of development, holds its color. Van Gogh Studio’s artists also are able to mix the colors more to how Van Gogh initially intended, having studied the original Van Goghs held in the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.

So to be reminded or inspired, or both, of Van Gogh’s talent and art, your only real alternative to an original, is a hand-painted oil reproduction from Van Gogh Studio.
