What did Van Gogh mean to express with the sunflowers?
Vincent van Gogh was very happy that Gauguin would come to live with him in The yellow House in Arles. The Sunflowers that he had painted to decorate Gauguin’s room expressed his happiness and Van Gogh was very proud of them. A deeper meaning of the Sunflowers is the cycle of life and death, shown by the various stages of life of the sunflowers.
