Mountain Landscape behind the Saint-Paul Hospital replica in oil on canvas

Van Gogh Studio is located in Amsterdam, near the Van Gogh museum where we can study the original works. Our paintings are all painted in oil on canvas by mainly Dutch artists who have studied Van Gogh's technique, including brushstrokes, color mixing, atmosphere and the rhythm of painting.

The boundaries of the asylum

Living in the asylum in Saint-Rémy, van Gogh was captivated by the intriguingly ambiguous space that lay between the wider world outside and his own confinement. He constantly found himself drawn to the low wall that enclosed the asylum, eagerly gazing outwards to discover a breathtaking world of subjects just waiting to be captured by his artistic eye.

The Alpilles

The majestic range of hills known as the Alpilles was a particular source of fascination for him, adorned with countless olive trees at their feet and occasionally graced by the striking presence of a solitary cypress tree. These natural marvels provided the perfect contrast to the gentle undulations of the hills, adding a bold vertical element that only served to further enhance their beauty.

Van Gogh inspires

Van Gogh's artistic passion was ignited by the raw beauty of the world around him, and he poured his heart and soul into capturing every nuance of the landscape that he observed beyond the asylum walls. It is no wonder that his art continues to inspire and captivate us to this day.
