The Road Menders framed Van Gogh replica, hand-painted in oil on canvas

The asylum where Van Gogh recovered from mental breakdowns is at a 15 minute walk from the charming town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. To be in Vincent’s bedroom is an overwhelming experience. But don’t forget to visit the town as well and see the huge plane trees that deeply impressed Van Gogh.

Vincent wrote to Theo from Saint-Rémy:

“The last study I have done is a view of the village, where they were at work – under some enormous plane trees – repairing the pavements. So there are heaps of sand, stones and gigantic trunks – the leaves yellowing and here and there you get a glimpse of a house front and small figures.”

Van Gogh painted two versions of this painting. The original painting that we replicated here can be visited at The Phillips Collection in Washington.
