Product description
Wheatfield with Cypresses at the Haute Galline Near Eygalieres replica in oil on canvas
Van Gogh Studio is located in Amsterdam, near the Van Gogh museum where we can study the original works. Our paintings are all painted in oil on canvas by mainly Dutch artists who have studied Van Gogh's technique, including brushstrokes, color mixing, atmosphere and the rhythm of painting. Background
Van Gogh was in his frantic painting spree when he made this painting. This was shortly after he completed his famous painting, “The Starry Night.” He was enchanted by the Cypress at that time. He might have painted this one when he was allowed to take a walk outside the precincts of the Saint Remy Asylum. In his letter to his brother Theo, this is how Van Gogh described the painting…
"I have a canvas of cypresses with some ears of wheat, some poppies, a blue sky like a piece of Scotch plaid; the former painted with a thick impasto like the Monticelli's, and the wheat field in the sun, which represents the extreme heat, very thick too."
About the Painting
After making this painting, Van Gogh had an attack of mental illness for about a month or so. Somewhere during early September 1889, he made a reed pen drawing of this painting and decided to copy this composition in two oils at his studio – one was a smaller version and the other, the same size.Van Gogh sent both the larger versions to his brother in Paris and the smaller version to his mom as a gift. The July version was sold in 1900 to an artist called Émile Schuffenecker by Theo’s widow.

Reviews
Hi Erik,
I saw the paintings when I brought them to the framer, and I must say, they are beautiful. Thanks again for the excellent work. :)
Even the framer himself said he's never seen such high quality reproductions before.

We are living in Provence and wanted a painting which would express all the beauty of that region. The natural choice has been a Van Gogh.
Looking at various alternatives we have selected Erik’s studio in Amsterdam and this was indeed the right thing to do. Not only the process has been seamless, from the web site order to the delivery in a high quality package but the painting itself is absolutely stunning.
It is really so close to the original, and our objective of having a beautiful hand painted masterpiece at home is completely fulfilled. Thanks to Erik and his very talented team.
My painting was a winner as expected. But Erik’s customers service is something you will enjoy too when you order. I received a discount as I paid in bitcoin (no costs to a credit card company) and this has been a great look into the near future for me. Muchas gracias, Carlos Hernandez
When my painting has been delivered, I was so excited that I had to ask my friend to open it for me. Soon after, my excitement turned into amazement. WOW! This is a fine work!
I had to wait a bit longer as I didn’t choose an item that is in stock but it was definitely worth it. This won’t be my last order with VGS. And I highly recommend it.
