The Cottage replica in oil on canvas
Van Gogh Studio is located in Amsterdam, near the Van Gogh museum where we can study the original works. Our paintings are all painted in oil on canvas by mainly Dutch artists who have studied Van Gogh's technique, including brushstrokes, color mixing, atmosphere and the rhythm of painting.
Live like a peasant
Van Gogh was influenced by the works of Jean-François Millet and other artists who painted the lives of peasants. He developed an interest in portraying the daily life of these hardworking people through his art.
In order to capture the true essence and spirit of their lives, he immersed himself in their world by living and working alongside them. He endured long hours in the fields and exposed himself to the same weather conditions that they faced, all in an effort to better understand and represent their experiences in his paintings.
Human nests
The cottage has two front doors, a chimney split in two, and was designed to accommodate two families. When viewed in the evening light, the cottage exudes a sense of tranquility. Van Gogh referred to these humble dwellings as "human nests," acknowledging the significance of these homes in the lives of the hardworking peasants who inhabited them.
