My interest in Vincent van Gogh began as a child when I saw Café Terrace at Night hanging in the Kröller-Müller Museum. Years later, in 1992, I had it beautifully reproduced by someone in my student house who was attending art school. I saw a business opportunity when I realized that others also wanted such a beautiful painting on their wall.
But the real Van Gogh obsession only started when I began reading his letters. This creative, intense, sensitive, and eccentric Van Gogh described how he was going to become a preacher but decided to follow his dream instead. He became a painter. What an inspiration. The courage Van Gogh had to walk his own path despite physical, mental, and financial obstacles gave me the strength to follow my passion and never give up.

My dream is to introduce more people to Vincent van Gogh and help them center their own passion in life. What is your dream?
To support painters in their careers.
And to buy a real Van Gogh from a private collection and display it in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. I believe Vincent, who struggled so much in his time but is now world-famous, would appreciate that. If only he knew...

Van Gogh was no individualist. Together with his brother Theo and fellow painters like Gauguin and Bernard, they stood on the shoulders of masters such as Rembrandt, Hals, Millet, and Hiroshige to further develop the art of painting. Future generations of artists could then stand on their shoulders in turn.
Master painters Nard Kwast, Geert Jan Jansen, and Cees van Loon share their insights into Van Gogh’s technique with me so that I can pass it on to a new generation of painters. Who knows—perhaps one day a museum will be dedicated to an artist emerging from that tradition.

I consider myself a huge Van Gogh (Museum) fan. So I joined the Sunflower Circle, the museum’s dedicated circle of members.
Members support an exceptional exhibition every year and receive invitations to openings and other exclusive events.
And with the museum just around the corner in Amsterdam I love the free entrance, no reservation and skip the line bonus! Check out here if this is something for you as well.
