Trees oil paintings by Vincent van Gogh reproductions
According to Vincent Van Gogh, every man’s relationship with
nature was more than anything else in the world. That is why from
sunflowers to olives and
wheat fields, Van Gogh never stopped drawing inspiration from nature. But there was one common theme in all of them - the use of vibrant colours. Among the Tree series done by Van Gogh, some of the more famous paintings include -
Olive Grove: Orange Sky,
Willows at Sunset, and the
Mulberry Tree.
Trees Series
Olive trees must have been a favourite subject for Vincent Van Gogh, after all, at least 18 of his paintings included them. One of those paintings was Olive Grove: Orange Sky.
For Vincent, the rustle of olive trees was beautiful, mysterious, and it had an old world feel to it. Through his paintings, Van Gogh wanted to capture the feeling he had when he heard the olive trees rustle.
Since the sunlight changes so many colours throughout the day, Van Gogh decided to paint olive trees in a several different lighting, from the yellow sun to the orange sky. Willows at Sunset is another famous painting done by Van Gogh under this series. The painting has pollarded willows present in the foreground with a sower figure, and they are set against a vibrant sunset. Though, there is something sinister and dark about the truncated trees in this painting. They form a sort of grill across the painting in front of the sunset sun.
Van Gogh also painted a lot of trees during his stay in an asylum in
Saint-Rémy, France. This is was also the place where Van Gogh painted The Mulberry Tree, since there were many mulberry bushes around the asylum. Just like Vincent’s other pieces, this one too has a commanding use of vibrant colours which resonates with his other paintings like
Harvest in Provence and the
Yellow House.
