Giant Peacock Moth framed Van Gogh reproduction, hand-painted in oil on canvas

This mid 20th century Jugendstil frame with beautiful organic ornaments perfectly fits the green in the painting. The 4,4 kg frame is in excellent condition and with a light on it the bronze golden colors shine and make the light parts in the painting come up, creating a very powerful and organic artwork.

Vincent van Gogh wasn’t allowed outside of the garden of the asylum in Saint-Rémy at first. That didn’t stop him from painting though. Vincent loved every aspect of nature and he didn’t want to kill the moth to be able to paint it. So he decided to draw it and then paint it after the drawing he made.

On a trip to Arles we saw the original painting in the Foundation Van Gogh on loan from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. A great inspiration to replicate this beauty and find a winning frame for it. And as the original is simply not for sale, this may be your best alternative.
