Brown oil paintings

Brown denotes home, warmth, honesty and reliability. Brown was the main and probably the only color that Van Gogh used in his early paintings. During this time he made a lot of still life paintings and paintings of weavers using sombre earth tones. Van Gogh, as an artist, was a nature lover. Most of his paintings are of fields, olive trees, cypresses and so on. The rustic feel of his paintings brought about through the use of different shades of brown can mesmerize just about any viewer. Even after he started playing with colors, he did retain his love of brown to depict nature as he saw it.
