Frequently asked questions
- Are your paintings hand-painted or printed?
- All our Van Gogh reproductions are hand-painted in oil on canvas. You will not only see, but also feel and smell the brush strokes. Just like the original Van Gogh paintings.
- What are your delivery times?
- When the painting you want to order is in stock ("Now in Stock" mentioned where you select size) we usually send it the day after your order and estimated delivery outside of Europe by DHL is 3-4 days later.
Please view the Van Gogh reproductions in stock by clicking here.
When the painting of your choice is not in stock, delivery usually takes 6 - 7 weeks.
- Do the paintings come framed?
- No, we send the paintings rolled in a hard plastic tube for maximum protection. To ship frames would also be very expensive and there is more chance of damage. We do have a selection of smaller paintings with antique frames.
This video may help to select the right frame at your local framer.
- Can we visit Van Gogh Studio in Amsterdam?
- We don't have a gallery at the moment. But you are welcome at Bistrot Neuf at Haarlemmerstraat 9 in Amsterdam for a Van Gogh Menu lunch. During lunch, hand-painted replicas by Van Gogh Studio hang on the walls around you.

About this painting
A New Morning
A small orange sun rises above the harbour of Le Havre. Boats move through the blue-grey water, while distant masts and chimneys fade into the morning mist. In Monet’s Impression, Sunrise, a few loose brushstrokes are enough to make us feel the cool air and the first warmth of daylight.Painted in 1872 and exhibited in Paris in 1874, this quiet harbour scene helped give Impressionism its name. Its freedom unsettled some critics. Monet was capturing a moment of changing light, leaving details for the eye to discover.
Van Gogh also needed time to appreciate this new way of painting. After arriving in Paris in 1886, he wrote to his friend Horace Mann Livens:
“In Antwerp I did not even know what the Impressionists were, now I have seen them”
In the same letter, he singled out a landscape by Claude Monet for his admiration. Discovering the Impressionists helped Van Gogh explore brighter colours and freer brushwork, while developing a style of his own.
There is something encouraging about that willingness to look again. A painting that once seemed unfamiliar can change how we see. Here, an ordinary working harbour becomes a place to pause and watch a new day begin.
Gilded French Frame
This richly decorated European wooden frame dates from circa 1920–1930. Its broad gilded surround is covered with curling leaves, floral details and raised ornaments at the corners and centres. Small signs of age give the surface character. The warm gold picks up the orange sunlight and the soft peach tones in the sky. A pale inner border gives the painting space, gently separating Monet’s open water from the elaborate decoration.
Together, the painting and frame have a striking presence. From across the room, the gilding catches the eye. Come closer, and the quiet movement of the water draws you into the harbour.
