Product description
A Meadow in the Mountains replica in oil on canvas
Van Gogh Studio is located in Amsterdam, near the Van Gogh museum where we can study the original works. Our paintings are all painted in oil on canvas by mainly Dutch artists who have studied Van Gogh's technique, including brushstrokes, color mixing, atmosphere and the rhythm of painting.Painted near the St. Paul asylum in Saint-Rémy in Provence
Vincent van Gogh completed "A Meadow in the Mountains: Le Mas de Saint-Paul" in December of 1889. The painting features fields of young wheat against a backdrop of lilac-colored mountains and a yellowish sky.In May of that same year, Van Gogh voluntarily checked into the St. Paul asylum near Saint-Rémy in Provence. During his stay, he used an adjacent cell as his studio and painted what he could see from his room, including trees covered in ivy, lilacs, and irises in the garden. Van Gogh was also able to see an enclosed wheat field, which he painted many times during his stay at Saint-Rémy.
When nature calls
As Van Gogh began to venture outside of the asylum walls, Van Gogh began painting the wheat fields, olive groves, and cypress trees of the surrounding countryside, which he believed were representative of the region. He ultimately created approximately 150 canvases during his year-long stay. You may also like to read:
