"I feel happier here with my work than I could be outside. By staying here a good long time, I shall have learned regular habits and in the long run the result will be more order in my life."

The Sunflowers, Starry Night or the Potato Eaters may be Van Gogh’s most famous paintings. But his St-Paul Hospital in Saint-Rémy shows the essence of Vincent. How can someone suffering from severe mental problems, locked up in an asylum among other tortured patients paint something so beautiful? He had no choice; painting was what he needed. Everything learned in Nuenen, Antwerp, Paris and Arles came together and lead to this colorful painting of hallucinating beauty.

A tumultuous time in Arles with booze, brothels, a clash with Gauguin and his left ear leaving behind, Van Gogh and his doctor decided the quiet of the asylum would be a good place to recover. This is where Van Gogh’s style and creativity reached its peak. He made no less than 130 masterpieces in one year, his view on the asylum symbolizing a delicate highlight and an emotional icon in art history.

The replica, hand-painted in oil on canvas by one of our master painters, deserved a frame of similar historic value. We found this 300 year old important and ancient Spanish frame on an auction and instantly fell in love with it. The original gilding is perfectly conserved. The carvings, putty and black seeds combine originality with style. A piece that would make any museum its proud owner.

Have you ever imagined to look at your wall and see a quintessential Van Gogh replica in an early 18th century frame? Here’s your chance.
