When the painting of your choice is not in stock, delivery usually takes 6 - 7 weeks.

- No, we send the paintings rolled in a hard plastic tube for maximum protection. To ship frames would also be very expensive and there is more chance of damage. We do have a selection of smaller paintings with antique frames.

About this painting
Portrait Of The Postman Joseph Roulin replica in oil on canvas
Van Gogh Studio is located in Amsterdam, near the Van Gogh museum where we can study the original works. Our paintings are all painted in oil on canvas by mainly Dutch artists who have studied Van Gogh's technique, including brushstrokes, color mixing, atmosphere and the rhythm of painting.Appreciation For A Friend
When Van Gogh first came to Arles, he arrived with the intent of finding more knowledge and inspiration for his artwork. Through his time there, he became acquainted with Joseph Roulin, a local postman who frequented the bar that he went to.They quickly developed a friendship, and Van Gogh painted portraits of Roulin and his family. This way, he gained the experience of painting models, without having to pay for their services. Another aspect was that he wanted to thank the Roulin family for their constant companionship.
Through his time in Arles, he painted Roulin and his family multiple times.
Unlimited By Imagination
Van Gogh didn’t want his style to be represented by specific shapes and shadows. To create his own identity, he decided to let colour flow through his paintings, with vivid hues and bright shades. This was further enhanced by the use of his impasto technique, where colours were thickly laid onto the canvas, thereby providing a rich colour to the painting. The style of his portraitures were such that the colours were designed to evoke emotions from his audience.
