Frequently asked questions
- Are your paintings hand-painted or printed?
- All our Van Gogh reproductions are hand-painted in oil on canvas. You will not only see, but also feel and smell the brush strokes. Just like the original Van Gogh paintings.
- What are your delivery times?
- When the painting you want to order is in stock ("Now in Stock" mentioned where you select size) we usually send it the day after your order and estimated delivery outside of Europe by DHL is 3-4 days later.
Please view the Van Gogh reproductions in stock by clicking here.
When the painting of your choice is not in stock, delivery usually takes 6 - 7 weeks.
- Do the paintings come framed?
- No, we send the paintings rolled in a hard plastic tube for maximum protection. To ship frames would also be very expensive and there is more chance of damage. We do have a selection of smaller paintings with antique frames.
This video may help to select the right frame at your local framer.
- Can we visit Van Gogh Studio in Amsterdam?
- We don't have a gallery at the moment. But you are welcome at Bistrot Neuf at Haarlemmerstraat 9 in Amsterdam for a Van Gogh Menu lunch. During lunch, hand-painted replicas by Van Gogh Studio hang on the walls around you.

About this painting
Warmth in the Night
The lamps are blazing, yet there is little warmth in Van Gogh’s The Night Café. The people share the same room, but each seems caught in a world of their own. The intense reds, greens and yellows make the café feel restless, almost as if the room itself has absorbed the loneliness of the night.Van Gogh was all too fimaliar with that feeling of distance, but he also deeply longed for connection. In one of his letters he wrote:
“Like everyone else, I have need of relationships of friendship or affection or trusting companionship, and am not like a street pump or lamp-post, whether of stone or iron, so that I can’t do without them without perceiving an emptiness.”
That makes The Night Café more than a painting about loneliness. It can also be seen as a reminder of how much human warmth matters, and how important it is to keep looking for friendship, affection and genuine connection.
Antique Italian frame
We found this richly ornamented Italian frame at auction. Dating from circa 1850-1900, it is made of wood and gesso, with deep floral relief and a warm, aged gilded surface. The frame almost acts as a counterweight to the restless interior. Its warm gold surrounds the café with something the scene itself seems to lack: warmth, dignity and care.
The contrast is deliberate. A richly decorated 19th-century frame around a painting about emotional distance creates a new tension, but also a sense of hope. The darkness remains, yet it is held by something warm.
